Exercise training program in children with lower-limb amputation

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Few physical exercise programs for children with limb loss have been described in detail recently. We provided information regarding the characteristics and effectiveness of an alternative rehabilitation developed lower-limb amputation. METHODS: An 8-year-old boy a below-knee amputation 9-year-old bilateral amputee girl performed program one 2-h session per week 20 weeks, aimed at developing muscular strength coordination. Walking ability walking speed were assessed by using L-test functional mobility 10-m walk test, respectively. Mechanical neuromuscular muscle function was tensiomyography. RESULTS: In case 1, decrement 9.5% 10.5% found (42 s vs. 38 s) test (19 17 scores, 2, remained unchanged (L-test score: s), while 5.2% reduction observed (10-m 19 18 s). No relevant changes tone both cases.
